Bracelets, pahunchian, churi, kangan, kara, bajuband, bazuband, bangles and armlets are the various types of hand ornaments. Bangles were worn as early as the Harappan period, the most fascinating example being the bangles worn by a bronze dancing girl from the Harappan period, with her shapely wrists and hands covered with ornaments. Excavations have uncovered bangles made of shell, terracotta and bronze from almost all the sites of the Indus Valley civilization, and of gold and silver from some sites. These findings indicate the popularity of this ornament among people in the Harappan region. Bangles have continued to be one of the most favoured pieces of jewellery and have been depicted in several sculptures and paintings all through Indian history. Even today glass bangle are part of daily wear in North India, while gold and silver ones are worn on special occasions. Women in South India generally prefer gold bangles. The variety of shapes, sizes and designing styles of hand ornaments reflects the popularity of this adornment.

Bedlinen, Flat Sheet, Block Printed Bed Sheets

Western India has also been known for many centuries for its skill in printing on textiles. The origin of printing on cloth, with wooden blocks of varied designs, is hard to trace out but it is known that in the preChristian era printed material was exported to the lands of western Europe. Fragments of resist-dyed and printed cottons (that were manufactured in western India around the fifteenth century) were unearthed from the A1 Fostat tombs outside Cairo in Egypt.
